Hey! Here is another Christmas card made with My Digital Studio. The punches used were, circle, oval, square, and rounded corner. You have to play with the nose awhile until you like what you get. I want to bring your attention to the bird. Notice how its feet are a different color than its body? When you have another photo-editing software, there are so many more possibilities with MDS. Including using a multicolored stamped image!! Video coming soon!!

Candy Cane Lane Snowman

Here is a cute little Christmas card I made with one of Stampin' Up!'s newest digital downloads.

Don't you just love it!?! First I put down the DSP from the same download, then the Snowman outline from, "A Cute Christmas" stamp set. Using square punchs, I made the sign. I made one joy in the color of the DSP and another in black, slightly off centered. I exported this as a JPEG, and opened the JPEG in Paint. I used the airbrush and water color brush to color in the image. Then I saved the image. I opened My Digital Studio and started a new project. I imported the colored picture and resized it to fit the cardfront. Then, I put another snowman outline, and lined it up with the previous to make the image look sharper. Do you understand this? or is it clear as mud?

When I printed one, I used my Tombow multi-adhesive to make little dots. Then I sprinkled Dazzling Diamonds over them! It looks very pretty, but it doesn't show up well on camera. :(

Medallion Background Stamp

Hey!!

Just wanted to stop in to showcase one of Stampin' Up!'s FABULOUS Background stamps, Medallion. This stamp was actually the most purchased stamp last year. :) I though I would never buy background stamps. This was my first and now I buy them all the time! This card is actually using some retired items, and I have not gotten around to remake it yet...
The base is Bermuda Bay 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" scored at 4 1/4". I inked the Jolly wheel in Bermuda Bay ink and rolled it across the entire card front. I used Versamark, Gold Embossing Powder, and the heat tool to emboss the medallion and peace(non-SU!). Then, you can use either your 1/16" handheld punch or paper piecer to punch a whole for the cord. Sadly, SU! has stopped carry elastic cord :( It has always been a favorite of mine.

Christ is Born

Hello! Hope you are having a wonderful weekend! This set has been on my wishlist for over a year and finally bought it a couple of weeks ago! Here is one of the cards I made.

The base card is Whisper White. I stamped the poinsetta in Cherry Cobbler on a 2 1/4" square. I wrapped Gold Cord (no longer available through SU!) around it 3 times and tied a knot. This was layered on a Real Red 2 1/2" square. I distress a piece of Pear Pizzazz Cardstock and sponged the edges with Wild Wasabi. Christ is Born was stamped in Versamark.

TIP: Using Craft and rubber scissors, separate the "Christ is Born" from the Psalms 96:11 to get more 'mileage' out of your stamp.

Psalm 96:11 was stamped in early espresso.

MDS Christmas and Summer Mini ending!

Good Morning!

I LOVE making Christmas Cards! I made this one on the go with my laptop and My Digital Studio. This one uses the Christmas Jingle Digital Kit, and is already included in your My Digital Studio! Everything on this card was already included in my software. One of the things I love about My Digital Studio, is nothing EVER retires! You can also get an unlimited supply of your favorite designer paper!

I used the reindeer from the Winter Post set. They are actual size and three are Close to Cocoa, and one is Early Espresso. The background is Old Olive Grid DSP but with a low opacity. I used the hand torn stamp from the Torn Edges Stamp set (digital only) and colored it Chocolate Chip. To make the snowflake background, make two square punches the same size. Make one Very Vanilla and send it to the back, and fill the second with the snowflake DSP from Christmas Jingle and lower the opacity. The Merry Christmas border is from the kit too! I used the scallop edge punch with more DSP from the Christmas Jingle. Stay tuned this week for how to make the nose glow!

This is a note card, not an actual 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". I designed it that size, and in a different photo-editing software cropped the image!

Simply Adorned

I wanted to show you Stampin' Up!'s jewelry line, Simply Adorned. I will be purchasing a chain and charm as a gift for a church elder. As I do not have them now, I have designed several inserts for her to use.

I made 6 charms using Crosses of Hope. The colors are (top, left to right) Rich Razzleberry, Pacific Point (night of navy brad), and Early Espresso. (bottom, left to right) Silver/Gold embossed, Pear Pizzazz (non-SU! brad), and Real Red.

Cross Charm Instructions:
To make the cross insert, cut a piece of glossy cardstock (1 1/2" x 2"). Ink the cross, stamp on a piece of scrap paper, then stamp in the middle of the piece of cardstock. Take a sponge dauber, with almost no ink, and brush it vertically to create a roughened look. Then sponge the edge of the insert. Insert a brad, and use a marker to only ink 'God' on the 'God bless you' sentiment.

Snowflakes Charm Instructions:
The snowflakes insert uses a Serene Snowflakes and Holiday Collection (retired), I used the hologram technique (mix clear emboss powder and dazzling diamonds) and white embosses each individual word from the "HOLIDAY WISHES peace.joy.love" stamp.

Swirls Charm Instructions:
The middle insert uses a retired wheel "So Swirly", ink in Early Espresso, and add two brads.

Moments Charm Instructions:
Use your Pear Pizzazz and Old Olive markers to make the grass. The flower image is from 'Beary Best Friends'. Use your Old Olive, Blushing Bride, and Peach Parfait markers to color the flower and stamp. 'Moments.' is from Elements of Style. Again, use your old olive marker to ink the sentiment. The bee was hand-drawn using the Daffodil Delight and Basic Black markers.

I will post this again when I get the chain and charm.

Polka-Dot Flower

Happy Friday!

Another simple card today. I can't get my scanner to work, and I wanted to show you a cute Build-a-Bear Card but this will do for today. This uses the Pick-a-Petal stamp set.

This card uses some retired colors, to be honest I can't remember the names lol. But could be easily substituted with new/returning/existent colors. I stamped the petal using the Stamp-a-ma-jig. I stamped the circle image and used the 1"circle punch. I cut a little off using my paper snips, I adhered it with a dimensional. I used the Old Olive Marker for the stem, and used the "smile" petal for the leaf. I covered of the "smile" with the sentiment - made with Family Phrases and Modern Label Punch. Lastly, I used my 2-way glue pen and added dazzling diamonds to the leaf. For the polka dots, I used a pencil eraser as a stamp! Such an easy technique! This is still one of my favorite designs!

Clear-Mount DVD Case Inserts

I know I keep bombarding you with all these My Digital Studio projects, but this one was really exciting for me! I recently converted most of my wood mount stamps to clear mount. I did this using clear vinyl that you can buy at craft stores. I converted 21 Sets. I left my background stamps wood mount, and some of my sets that were not die cut. I used less than a quarter of a yard! Anyways, I will be ordering SU!'s DVD cases, and made inserts using My Digital Studio.

The dimensions of the insert are 5 1/2" x 7". I used Pumpkin Pie Grid Designer Paper. I took the stamp image from the online catalog and the snipping tool. Or, you can get the image from my online store. The left tab tab is 1/2" wide. I used a black square punch, and white text for the number. I put the four languages just to make it look more 'official' lol.

My Digital Studio

Hello,

I have another My Digital Studio project for you. I use MDS for my business by selling "We've Moved" cards to a local realitor, which she gives to house buyers. She likes simple cards. I first made this card IRL by stamping with my E, D, and A, blocks. I wanted to try to imitate this digitally. This is what I came up with.

I used photo-boxes to size the different rectangles. And filled them with Pear Pizzazz, Wild Wasabi, and Early Espressso. I changed their opacity to 70. If you have ever stamped with your clear blocks, you know that they do not stamp a clean solid image. To rough up the images, I used the additional download, Vintage Overlays. I resized three of them to fit the rectangles, then made each one darker than the background color. To do this for the pear pizzazz overlay, click on the overlay, change color, click on pear, then click the tab 'HSB' and move the circle to a darker area of the spectrum.On top of the whole image, I used a white vintage overlay. I made the dots by resizing circle punches to 5 pixels wide.

My sister-in-law had her fifth baby last Friday! It was a little baby boy! They named it Eli, and he is so adorable. Sorry I don't have any pictures! I did not have a chance to take a picture of the card I made for them before I gave it to them. But, since they did not now if it was going to be a boy or a girl, I made a card for both, and obviously still have the girl version. I will try to get that posted this week.

Awash with flowers

Hello!

Sorry I have been out of the loop this past week. I have been helping with our high school's band camp. It was a great week! My order came in this past Friday, and I have made at least a dozen cards in the past 24 hours! Here is a picture of my order!

One of the sets that came in my 19.1 lb. box, was Awash with Flowers. I have a couple cards this week to show you that use this set. Here is the first:

I stamped a whole 8 1/2" x 11" sheet of whisper white cardstock with images from this set. I used my 1 3/4" circle punch to cut out different portions. The circles were matted on a piece of Pear Pizzazz. The inks used were Rich Razzleberry, Poppy Parade, Daffodil Delight, Pacific Point, Pear Pizzazz, and Melon Mambo. I used a torn piece of Poppy Parade, and an 1/8" strip of daffodil delight. I used the spiral image from Trendy Trees in versamark and basic black for the greeting, also from Trendy Trees. My Digital Studio In Color

Good Morning!

Welcome to August!

Here is another card I made using My Digital Studio. Very Simple.

I used Concord Crush for the base. The left panel is Pear Pizzazz, the middle is Certainly Celery (with white stitching on both sides) and the right is Old Olive. The mat of the flowers is Poppy Parade and the flowers were "stamped" on Whisper White. This is the Petal Pizzazz stamp set. I used a digital technique similar to masking IRL. I "punched" out three or four white circles in about the size of the concord flower's petals. I laid them on the petals where the pear leaves were showing through, then right clicked the concord flower and clicked "Bring to Front". The other flower is blushing bride. For You greeting is from the stamp set 'For You' but I took a circle punch in old olive and covered up the flower.

Interesting Box

Good morning!

My family is off to the county fair today.

I wanted to share a box that I have been making for years. I have used it for Christmas, I.O.U's, small birthday treats, and more. I have the template for sale, priced at $1.50. It includes a template that can be printed on cardstock, another template with measurements printed on it, and instructions. I included the second template because you don't NEED a template once you make the box about five times. You can buy the template here.

Here are a couple of pictures:

When closed, the box measures 2 5/8" x 2 5/8" x 2 5/8". I altered the box from its original size, so it is now as big as you can make it from an 8 1/2" x 11" sheet. The template measures 7 1/16" x 11". The template will be e-mailed to you when I receive payment.

Inspired by Nature

Good morning!

This is where the title of my blog comes in to play, lol!

Yet another one of my favorite stamp sets (and came in my starter kit) is Inspired by Nature. I especially love the 'organic' feeling of this card. It uses two retired colors, Creamy Caramel and Ruby Red. But these could be easily substituted with Crumb Cake and Riding Hood Red. To tear the middle in the Chocolate Chip, use your paper trimmer to cut two parallel slits about a 1/2" apart. Then start tearing.

Having Stampin' Up!'s gel pen helps so much on this card. It runs very smoothly. Recommened to everyone! Scroll down for a list of supplies:

MDS Stitched Ribbon Tutorial

Hello!

Today I was playing with Stampin' Up!'s My Digital Studio, a digital design software. I actually used MDS to design my blog background, header, and buttons (e-mail me, specials, join my team, etc.) Anyways, I found a VERY simple tip to "stich" ribbon. Since I do not have a recording software for my computer, I have taken multiple screen shots. Click on photos for easier viewing.

Step 1:

Open/Design a project. I am using the Summer Home designer 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" landscape card.

Step 2:

Click on "Add Embellishment". I pop-up window should come up. I am using an additional download, "Satin Ribbon", but you can use whatever ribbon you want. Select your ribbon out of the embellishment list, and select the straight piece of ribbon. I am using Chocolate Chip to coordinate the designed card.

This is how your card should look now

Step 3:

Again, click on "Add Embellishment". Select "Staple and Stitching" and the left hand side of the pop-up window. Then select "Whisper White - Stitching Straight". Add this element to your project, and position it on your ribbon, with just a little gap between the stitching and the edge of the ribbon.

Step 4:

Christmas in July!

This card is part of my Christmas Characters Card kit that I offer in Nov-Dec. I plan on offering it again this year so be ready for it. The characters include this penguin, Rudolph, and Frosty! I made this one with the new color Cajun Craze. I used a sample piece that all demos got a couple months back. Stamping on Coasters!

Good morning!

Since I am offering this stamp set at 15% off until tomorrow, I decided to show you another project with it. Stamping on Coasters! I LOVE IT and it is so easy! I got a coaster kit as a gift but didn't want to use the supplies that came with it, so I stamped 'em! You have to stamp your images in CRAFT ink. Bake them in your oven at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Let them cool completely. If you used a line art stamp, you can color them with permanent markers. The the ink still smears, spray with acrylic sealer or clear spray paint. This will take away the "thristy" affect though. Have fun!

Hello! Happy Wednesday!

I used the Manhattan Flowers embossing folder on a Chocolate Chip cardfront (4 1/4" x 5 1/2"). With this die, you can make an absolutely STUNNING card in two minutes! I found some silver ribbon that I purchased from a craft store and tied that it (no pun intended!) with a silver heat embossed greeting from the Sincere Salutations stamp set! Lovely as a Tree

Hello Again!

This is another card I made for wedding guests' gifts. You can view those details here. I used the Lovely as a Tree stamp set. This stamp set is one of my ALL-TIME FAVORITES! I love this stamp set so much! It is a must-have! I believe it SO much that I am offering it at 15% off until Saturday! Anyways, back to the card. The base card is Chocolate Chip (cut at 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" scored at 4 1/4") The next layer is Very Vanilla (4" x 5 1/4"). I took a piece of scrap cardstock and cut a 3 1/4" x 2" (???) I think that was the measurement. I made it so long ago and I dont have any left. Lol. If you experiment with it, you find it. Sorry! Anyways, I used the mask and sponged Old Olive ink. While keeping the mask on, I stamped the background tree stamp in Old Olive, on the right side. Then remove your mask and stamp the foreground tree in Always Artichoke. Again, I made this card when Warm Words was current, but there are plenty of other greeting sets that you could use! Nature's Nest Card

Hello!

Yes! It's Friday! I love that feeling!

A couple of months ago, I was asked to design and create cards as gifts for the guests of a wedding. It was held at Mackinac Island and they wanted that to be incorporated. I designed four cards and I will be sharing them with you over the next couple of days.

I had just gotten the Nature's Nest Stamp Set from Stampin' Up! (scroll down for a picture) a few days before I got this card order, and that's the first thing that came to my mind.

Believe it or not the base card is white! I wanted the whole card to have texture, so I brayered the card base with old olive. Because I had the majority of the card covered, I could get even coverage and cover up the "lines" where the ink had overlapped. I stamped three turtles in Chocolate Chip ink, so the lines wouldn't stand out too much. I used my blender pen and Always Artichoke classic ink to water color the turtles.

I am so bummed that Stampin' Up! retired Warm Words! I had gotten that set as a Christmas present from my mom, and I just LOVE the font and sentiments.
